Easy Homemade Dog Treats
I love these simple, healthy dog treats. I use this as my base recipe and add in other ingredients like shredded cheese, coconut shreds, and nutritional yeast. I also like to sup in chicken broth instead of water. So many fun ways to make dog treats.
Ingredients
2 cups of rolled oats ground into a fine powder (you can also use oat flour, whole wheat flour, or other similar flours)
2 ripe bananas
1/2 cup of all-natural peanut butter (make sure there is no xylitol or other artificial sweeteners in the peanut butter which can be toxic to dogs)
1 tbsp of ground flax seed
1 tbsp of ground hemp powder
1 tbsp ground chia seeds
1 egg
1/4 cup of coconut water (or regular filtered water)
Method
Combine ingredients. Mix well. Leave the dough in a mixing bowl. Cover with saran wrap. Rest in the refrigerator for one hour.
Preheat oven to 300° F (150° C).
Roll the dough out into a 1/4 inch thick sheet and use a cookie cutter to cut our desired shapes and sizes. You can also use silicon dog treat molds.
Bake 30-40 minutes until firm but not burnt. If you are using silicon baking mats, you may need to bake the treats for 45-55 minutes depending on how thick they are.
Allow cooling for one hour.
Store in a sealed container for up to 5 days. Refrigerate to keep longer.
